in wine country. several inches of rain there. laura anthony joins us life things have improved but this is one of the trouble spots. one of the first to flood in this area. heavy rains move into petaluma that is what happened this morning. and overnight, into the north bay. willow brook creek began to overrun banks. think of this as a water way because it was so low this week. here on industrial avenue water front caused the parking lot to flood. >> this disrupts our ability to brait the company. we can't load from the dock. our employees zront a place to park. >> this water came up quickly this morning. we're hoping it stays where it is now. >> that is a gentleman that live as long the petaluma river. this is a refrigeration business near the river. it hasn't flooded in years. when it did it was in conditions like this. with high tides projected to be at seven feet on sunday, the concern is that that river with grounds saturated that river and creeks like the one behind this property will overflow again. we'll hear more from folks getting ready for this weekend's new round of

gets very heavy. this is the last system that takes us through sunday morning. that brings flood warnings to the rivers of the north bay. very gusty winds that is behind us by tomorrow afternoon. >> katie: the roads are certainly slippery out there. there is a severe traffic alert on northbound 280 before the 101. there is an injury accident there. we understand the two left lanes are blocked. if you are driving you are advised to avoid that area. no estimated time right now as to when the roadways reopen. this is north 280 before 101 due to an injury accident in the roadway. we don't know for sure whether or not that is weather-related but it's a decent guess. as lisa mentioned there is a flood warning in effect near the napa river and further south there is flood watches as water levels continued to rise. live in petaluma with one body of water as an example. >> reporter: good morning. i just wanted to mention, here it's been raining steadily for the last hour and a half here. just behind us, this was emptied on thursday. those heavy rains helped fill it. the light rains today
with cal trans and they told us how they have 300 cameras across the bay area counties that are focused on the roadways and the bridges. a lot of the sensors in the roadways help let them know when there is a traffic situation like the truck behind me. this is what we know. gusty winds knocked over the big rig on the richmond san rafael bridge blocking both eastbound lanes. according to the chp, the truck was heading east along the midspan before 5:00 a.m. when heavy winds caused a vehicle to roll over. when the truck slammed against the rail, the driver was slammed on his side and had to crawl out of the truck's cabin. cars are now passing the scene of the crash on the roadways -- roadway's right shoulder. back live, you can see the guys have started to disassemble the drive shaft of the truck because they have to take that off before they can put the truck back over, and they were waiting for the wind to die down. no one was injured in the collision. not the driver of the truck or any other vehicle. again, we are live in the san rafael -- the richmond san rafael bridge. we are now goi

on bay area rivers. how long this will stay with us? we'll take a look at the forecast. >> a wind advisory was in effect for the bay bridge, the carquinez bridge. if you didn't think the storm had a kick, take a look. this is our camera on mt. tamalpais in mill valley, pounded by rain and serious wind gusts. this storm drenched parts of the north bay. the national weather service issued a floor nod -- flashflood warning. and stoney point road is closed. sergio quintana is live at the scene. reporter: leigh mentioned the problem of the flash-flood warnings, and the other problem is the runoff. that's what happened here, this drainage culvert was overwhelmed, and the water just basically dug up the earth under the cult vert and created this sink hole. you can see the crews just managed to install these steel plates to allow cars to drive over the road. the rushing water is causing plenty of problems for road crews. the big worry here on stoney point road is more of the pavement could collapse so traffic will be diverted. >> trying to avert any accidents or hazard from somebody falli

-like conditions in the nation's heartland could make travel difficult. wendy gillette joins us live from new york city. >> reporter: good morning. the national weather service has received reports of 34 tornadoes in four states, now this powerful system is moving east. this is just one of more than 30 reported tornadoes that touched down on christmas day. leaving heavy damage. this one roared through alabama -- mobile, alabama tearing down parts of the church and downtown businesses. another twister hit mississippi, blowing insulation into trees and%khç peeling back walls of homes. there were some injuries reported, no deaths. >> judging from some of the damage we witnessed today it is a miracle that no one was hurt any worse than they were. >> reporter: further east in the state in stone county, theresa and her boyfriend took shelter in their truck. >> started jerking us and spinning us. >> reporter: the same fast-moving storms brought braise -conditions to parts of the country's mid section, causing 21 vehicle pile-up in oklahoma city, the system is heading east bringing treacherous conditions
